I've worked on EK ones, but I imagine EG's are fairly similar. You disconnect positive and negative terminals on your battery. Wait at least 3 minutes for all the electronics to run out of power. There's a cover on the bottom part of the steering wheel. Pull the cover off, there's a big yellow plug. Disconnect it short it out (my EK has automatic shorting plugs, I think older EK's, and probably EG's, had a red short plug you plugged into the airbag). And then you can take it out. It's pretty much the same procedure for the passenger side bag, but the plugs are under the dash.
