Well I sort of already bought the car, paid the down payment, just not the full installment. It looks like a really clean car, but has some confusing background history and sort of conflicts with what the owner says.

I was getting tired of trying to find a 4 Door GSR and this one looked perfect so I jumped on it before anyone else did, may have been a bad decision but I'm stuck with it. He says its a Salvage title, that it was not in an accident and was recovered from theft.
I live in Oklahoma so I havent gotten to see the car or test drive it yet. I am going to do so this weekend with a friend that is going with me that knows alot more about these cars than I do.
Basically the carfax report shows it had 2 owners. It was originally a corporate fleet vehicle. It was then transfered to another owner in 2000. Towards the end of 2005 a salvage title was issued. Here's where it gets confusing: the owner says it was a theft car, no accident, the carfax reports it in broad terms as: "Severe accident or Total Loss Event" Now that could mean theft, but, CO does not issue salvage titles for theft vehicles, from what carfax says.
The owner didnt say anything about an accident, says it was not invovled, it was theft recovery. He put seats and rims on it from another GSR I'm assuming. From the pictures the car looks pristine. My friend and I are curious about the GSR sticker that is usually on the rear bumper of the cars. If it was in an accident and replaced the sticker would no longer be there. He says usually no one takes the sticker off because its such a pain in the ass, and this one is missing so we are wondering why.
So I've been trying to figure out, was it really theft, or was it an accident, or was it stripped in the salvage yard after the accident.
Basically if I dont see anything wrong with it and it drives nice and has no problems I will complete the purchase.
Dont rag on me if you think I'm a fool for buying it, just let me know what you think.
Thank You
