Hmmm!
It appears that Honda has gotten access to Toshiba's new high-power/lightweight lithium-ion batteries, which makes it possible for Honda to put in a very small battery pack that can "fit" inside the bodyshell of the Honda Fit.
This sounds like a smaller-sized
Integrated Motor Assist drivetrain with a 1.0-liter version of that 1.3-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine used on the Honda Civic Hybrid, complete with a CVT automatic transmission so the car can run in battery-only mode in certain low-speed situations. My guess is that the gasoline engine will be rated at 80 bhp and the electric motor will be rated at 25 bhp.
Maybe the second-generation Honda Fit likely due in calendar year 2007 will include this IMA-powered model?
