Since you think it is so ok then why would you even have to worry about who hears it? Would you say it in a mixed crowd of people? If I walked up and said something like, "What up my chink" would that be ok? How about, what up my honky"? Since we are tossing around racial inflectives why not insert kike, gook, wop or any other racial term that can be thought of?
Why just limit the phrase to one race if it isn't meant as an insult and is nothing more than a word replacing "dude". I mean shit I could think of a couple hundred things to put in there instead.
Lets figure this out then...
I have a large spectrum of friends growing up in Canada, and now again in Florida. I'd say only a handful of Asian doods though, so maybe I am wrong here... but I have never heard two Asians say "What up chinky" or "slant eye" or "gook" or any other racial epithet. I have ALOT of Hispanic friends here living in Florida and also back in Montreal, but I never hear them going around saying, "What up beaner", ( Icant think of any others)... but thats the point. Nor do me and my white friends say shit like "Sup cracker" or "whats happening honkey"...
But for some reason... black people go around saying ***** like its part of their diet. If it's such an offensive term, why are they saying it? N!gger I understand... no one says "Whats up n!gger!". Its a common everyday term now to say n!gga with the "A"... and its made to be a comfortable term.
