All your examples are from close year, same chassis vehicles. For example, if you swapped a 99 motor to a 93, you gotta have it checked by a ref or you are gonna get sent home by the smog station. Swaps from the same chassis designation from what I have seen do not require it to be taken to a referee station. Besides, why pay the 60 bucks to go and hope it passes at a smog station when you can go to the ref for 40 and get it smogged if it passes or know why you doesn't. Smog stations won't do that for ya!
