Well that depends, being a mechanic you're pretty much knowledgable in any type of mechanical works. Labor wise, troubleshooting, etc..etc... But w/out the right information (diagrams on how to hook up vtec) a mechanic will be fixing the car blindly. My dad is a mechanic (forklift mechanic I should say). The guy is very well respected @ his company and has been there for over 20 years...works on forklifts full time and cars part time. When it comes to troubleshooting, and electrical..he pretty much knows it all from the top of his head. But one day I asked him about running wiring up for vtec and what not..he's like huh???? WTH is vtec..

All Im saying is if the mechanic gets the right information he's able to do anything from swaps to electrical.
