if its only in first and second, and deffinetly not in 3 4 or 5 then you probably have synchro problems. reverse doesnt have a synchro and on some cars (all of my hondas) i have to put it into first gear to stop the input shaft AND THEN reverse

but check for fluid leaks just incase
