No, I did not take off the EGR valve itself and clean it out. HOWEVER, I have purchased a gasket for it already, so I can clean it soon. Think that will make up whatever difference?
If you don't have a check engine light on, I doubt it. But it's not that much work, just spray carb cleaner in the holes on the bottom and clean it out with some q-tips. If you're still getting bad MPG, you might want to try seafoam or manually clean your TB/intake mani if you've done all other basic maintenance.
