I don't think it's an error, per se. The car is trying to keep you in check by preventing overthrottling. My parents Maxima does the same thing with regards to traction control. In low traction situations, it won't open the throttle very much even if you floor the pedal.
Heh heh, I almost mentioned that in my previous post but left it out. Chrysler does the same. I just disable the traction control in those situations.
