Thats the whole point of an LSVTEC...he IS keeping the LS block. I don't know why you'd recommend the B16 over the B20. Every B20 swapped car I've seen has raped the B16 car. I hate to use the old cliche, but there's no replacement for displacement. Especially in an integra, the B16 just doesn't make enough torque.

but a couple questions to clear up the b16 vs. b18c questions when involving the LSVTEC

1. does it matter which b16 head? (i.e. 92-95 jdm b16a, b16a2/a3)?
cause i can get an OK deal on a b16a jdm engine...?

2. is there a difference in installing the 2? some people have told me the GSR over the b16 for ease of install, this true?

3. which b16 heads DO flow better? if any? i thought they were from the same casing...

4. which one has the highest compression if using b16a2 pistons?
what are the compresssion numbers with those pistons?

thank you.
1. Yes it matters. Using a first gen B16 head means it's old, and has lots of miles. Valvesprings are worn, other parts of the head have lots more wear and tear. Casting wise, they are the same.

2. The only difference in the install of the different heads is the dual runner intake manifold of the gsr...requires a tad more wiring, and requires the use of a GSR ecu.

3. The GSR and B16 heads flow almost identically, but the GSR slightly outflows the B16 head at maximum valve lift. The ITR head is the same casting as the B16, but has a slight port and polish job...so it flows better than the GSR/B16 heads...but is a good amount more expensive.

4. The GSR head has smaller combustion chambers than the B16/ITR heads, and thus provides higher compression. Your CR would be around 11.59:1 with a GSR head, and B16 pistons in your LS block.
