You're on the right track, except that I think it's a flame-retardant polyester material..:dunno: At any rate, it works. And combined with R-12 fiberglass insulation for the celing & attic, the blow-in insulation will make a big difference.

A local company did the installation on my parents' house in Mill Valley. Since the north end of the house did not have any insulation prior to that point (the house was built in the early 1950's), heating bills dropped by about 20% and stayed low from then on.

The only difference in my experience with the stuff is that the company drilled the holes on the exterior side of the wall, through the stucco. h:
