Hm..this is just my o2 and from experience in the past of what I learned. LS/Vtec or b20/Vtec are very nice motors and quik dont get me wrong. But if you were planning to boost and planning on keeping this motor for a while I would not suggest you go Ls/v. Yes of course vtec is a good portion to add to the mid to top end power cause it'll make your car scream from 4500 rpm and up especially w/ the turbo. But I just not a safe concept to mix and match parts like that. I'd either go straight LS, straight b16 or straight gsr for realiablity. Powerwise, ls/vtec IS the way to go.
A good buddy of mine who is very very well knowledgeable in the import scene once gave me this concept. If LS/Vtec or B20/Vtec was such a good set up then why didnt the honda engineer's build such a motor and put it on the market for consumers? Honda made staright LS and B20 motors for a reason and it's built that way for a reason and realiablity. Not to be mixed and matched.
Examples of doing hybrid swaps..
1) If you were to do a gsr swap into a civic using the p28 ecu w/out getting it chipped the motor will still run but not to a full gsr potential.
2) If you were to swap a H22 into a civic and use a p28 or gsr ecu you would eliminate all the H22's capabilities of running the motor to it's full potential.
What im trying to say is use all the OEM parts that comes with the original motor and you'll have a longer lasting motor. Ls/Vtec is not a bad set up at all if you have couple of motors lined up to back you up just incase anything happens down the road. Again just me o2.
