Well, since we are talking about honda engines, I believe they have no made the slightest bit of progress in the engine department for years. They enjoyed the success of their engines of late 90ies and early 00s, when they had the highest hp in class on most of their vehicles, but what about now?

GSR/ITR vs RSX/RSX-S. Did the RSX gain on the good old Integra? Mere 10hp for ITR vs RSX-S, and only due to displacement increase. Sure its more refined, blah blah blah, but it can be gunned down with a damn neon or a cavalier.

Old TL-S vs new TL. No improvement whatsoever. Sure, 260hp from a 3.2 v6 was unheard of in the 90ies, but nowadays the new camry is coming with more than that. The TL should have at least 320.

Old RL vs new RL. Sure, 290hp from 215 is a nice step up, but its long overdue, and not enough for a 50k car. The new ES will come out with more than that (i predict 305), and the RL shouldn't even be competing with the ES.

Old civics vs new civics - no progress here, just increasing displacement.

Old accord vs new accord - 240hp from 200 was a nice step up, but still nothing new. Competition has caught up, but honda wont be able to up hp on the accord without upping it on the TL/RL first.

What else? Did Honda make any amazing engines lately? New NSX? New S2k?

They used to be my favorite company, but now I don't really give two craps about them. Not a single exciting car in their line up since the S2k, and they cancel prelude, integra, soon to cancel nsx, rsx, and probably the s2k. Great job honda.
