A blower type supercharger uses belt driven lobes to compress air and the turbo and centrifugal superchargers use compressor wheels driven by a turbine. A turbo doesn't recycle air, it recycles wasted exhaust energy to compress fresh air, but I catch your drift.

The superturbocharged car was nuts. I think it was a Miata that I saw and it could not get traction in any gear. It definitely didn't look streetable, but the setup looked pretty awesome.
