IMO, it is downright foolish to knowingly violate the state law on window tint. You're just asking to be cited. Stick to what your state allows and don't tempt fate.

Police officers have calibrated light meters that can test tint percentage in the field. So, it's very easy for them to write you a citation that is pretty much uncontestable.
