This is true....many of the rules do have a basis in reality. I like the morals that religions teach. But many of the rules are either flat out wrong or have no basis in today’s society. I also don't like how many religions promote intolerance of others beliefs by saying that if you don't believe our way then you are going to hell.
let's stay away from generilizations, to be fair MOST of the rules have a strong bearing on the way you conduct yourself, even in the vaguest sense many are very applicable.
But you're right, its when people are too attached and stubborn to their own version of the truth that the true meaning gets confused.
