That intake pipe going over the engine is 100%, hands down, the worst intake design I've ever seen from a performance standpoint. Even though it's plastic you're still going to heat up the air considerably at that point. I think a short ram intake in the area pointed out by the original poster of that thread would be much better for performance than something using the original design. It's going to be pretty loud though, be prepared for that.
Thank you, that original poster is me hehe. I'm thinking of just creating a CAI box around the original battery area to shield it from the rest of the engine bay, maybe I won't have to cut any larger hole.
