Changing the cable is not to complicated;however, i've known and still know some people that can't screw in a lightbulb. If it's the mount at the firewall that broke(which happened to my 86 crx), you'll have to get somebody to weld it back or fabricate your own cable mount. I stuck a big washer between the firewall and cable, which fixed mine after the mount broke.
