thats right! no more best buy!
had an interview at verizon wireless yesterday. a friend of mine that works in sales told me his store had an opening in the customer service department and that i would get paid $2-$3 more/hr than i am currently making at best buy, so i figured hell, why not.
so anyway, i went thru the 'pre-screening' interview and they asked if i was interested in sales or CS. i said either one. they thought (for whatever dumb reason) that even though i have 3.5years of wireless sales experience that i would be better suited for CS. okay, fine. so i filled out the CS app.
after that, i interviewed with 2 new people. they asked me more detailed questions about specific roles and duties of my current job, as well as asked for specific examples of situations ive dealt with in my previous jobs.
they seemed pleased, and told me they had one more person for me to talk to. so im sitting for like 5 mins and one of the guys comes back in and asks if i'd be comfortable in retail sales and i said absolutely. he then said they'd be a few more minutes because they don't normally put people directly on the sales floor. i guess i interviewed well.
so anyway, a few more mins go by and another woman comes in with a small stack of papers. she explained to me the job offer.. $24,800 base with a projected 14,800 comission. :eek3: $39,600. not bad for a 20 year old, full time college student.
according to my friend that currently works in sales, the average rep makes about 50k/year, and he knows of a few that made over 70.
im just waiting on the drug test and background checks to come back now. should be about a week.
