Thats how I grew up. My mom didn't care if us kids had a drink or two in the house. But we didn't leave the house after drinking, no friends could drink, and we couldn't get drunk or the privilige was gone.
It worked out well for us and we didn't abuse it because we enjoyed having a beer or a mixed drink with mom or at dinner once in a while.
