this male neighbor of my sister's shoplifted from target a few yrs ago.. a stupid cd. they followed him and caught him as he left.. he even knew they were after him., too stupid to put the thing down. he had never shop lifted either. he was repeatedly billed the fee from target.. he got a lawyer so he didnt have to pay the target fee. im not sure how it turned out, i dont think he had to do any time or community service but it does stay on your record.. the school his daughter goes to did a background check on all parents that participate in school activities its the law.. his target shoplifting thing came up.. the law varies depending on the amount of property stolen.. if its under $500 there r different charges, if its over it can be a felony..in some states criminal records r sealed if u r under 18, so that shouldnt be a problem if he tries to get federal student loans/aid for college..dumb thing to do..
