IF this is a truly overhauled by either Honda or Howard you WILL pay that much installed. This price is fairly common at dealerships who do offer a warranty on the box and labor.
As to "racing gears" there is basically no such thing for the 5th gen tranny. You can install an LSD and Final drive that will improve things for either road course or drag.
