I can guarantee that if current Ford engineers were to design a car fit for the "youth movement", it will be ugly as hell. And it won't sell.
Here's what Ford needs to do immediately:
1. Inject another 50 horses into the 500. It's a very nice car for what it's purpose is (you can throw a whole table of 7 mob bosses in that trunk), and the fit and finish is very nice. Probably the best Ford ever in that regard. Not to mention plenty of interior room and very high safety ratings. But it's a slow dog when compared to an Avalon, Camry, or Accord. Ford offers it in all wheel drive.... they should be advertising that left and right. That and the boost in hp would do them wonders I bet.
2. Either make dedicated cars specific for Mercury or axe the nameplate completely. It's been on life support for 10 years..... either pull the plug or revise the division.
3. Lincoln needs help as well.... Cadillac is trouncing them with the CTS and STS, and GM ain't in much better shape. Don't mean to sound heartless, but the average Town Car buyer is at the Shady Farm nursing home now and won't be driving much any more. Axe that and get with the program on the rest of the line - their cars need more attitude, performance, and power (the LS should have offered a stick on the V8, and they should never have quit offering a stick on the V6)
Oh, and one more thing..... make the cars right the first time so they don't have to be recalled for catching fire or an axel falling off.
