thanks a lot 2legit2quit, please do not take the trouble to test your spare clock, because i stay at the opposite side of the earth (Malaysia in asia pacific).

i suspect one of the capacitor in the circuit board faulty causing short circuit. i am gonna replace the capacitor, i will post the outcome.
