Are you sure it's a pinhole leak in a hose? It could be a head gasket leak if you are losing coolant and not seeing it actually leak. As far as the fuel guage not working, check fuses, connections, etc.
hmmm. maybe for kicks you could get/rent a compression tester. They also rent out leak detector kits.
