there are many reasons, the major one being the fact that acura has no place for a stripped down version of the RSX

the new type-s is more like the type-r but it's still overwieght, underhandling and underpowered in comparison

the only reason the US got the type-r in the first place was because the DC2 type-r utilized a different chasis than the the DC2 GSR and therefore wasnt eligible for certain competition in the US (i believe it utilized a thicker, stronger C-pillar) so they had to release a certain number of produciton ITR's in the US to make it eligible,

the DC5 doesnt have that problem, the chasis's are the same.
