statements have obviously already been made, but I figured i'd give a second opinion...

mind you I didn't bother to read KaBlookie's entire post... i got faith he left good words and opinions.

Fun factor (How fun is the GS-R compared to GTI?)):
I've driven both, and prefer the GS-R more... kickin' vtec in someone's face is always fun.
Handling (Stock Vs Stock?):
Can you go around a 90 degree turn going 60 in your VR6?
[b]How bad is the tourqe difference?:[?]
The not great thing about honda builds is the torque curve.. if you're looking directly for performance.. it's not really a horrible thing, but off the line, lotsa stuff will give you trouble, but you'll be granted with pretty much instant highway speed dominance.... all of their balls come in at higher rpm ranges, vtec is a gorgeous thing... and hitting vtec in 1st & 2nd gear is far from a hard task, so it's not that much of a set back... the fact that it's got variable valve timing makes for them to still be an excellent car economically as well, given you can have the self discipline to not red-line through every gear at every stop light (Many cannot resist hah, but it's ok, because honda engines can handle constant reptative redlines.)
How noticable is the power difference?:
You'll feel the difference, and might not like it at first... but I think the car ought to end up being suprisingly satisfying.
My VW was VERY reliable slolom racer are GS-Rs realiable after mods?:
GS-Rs, given their stance, and weight difference, and all-way disc brakes (can't remember if the vr6 had all discs, or discs/drums?) will probably result in better times.
Im into Slolom racing is the GS-R good for modding?:
definitley... if you're all out about it, keep in mind a carbon fiber sun-roof replacement... it removes roughly 30ish lbs from the top of your car, which draaastically increases your center of gravity's reliability...
Lastly what are quality places to get performance for a track goer such as i?: Depends on the set up you want... Forced induction? N/A? check out the sponsor pages... and just try and search around for decent deals..
there is, however a company called Comptech, that kinda specializes in our cars, so scope them out, cuz they know what they're doing.... stay away from "ebay +20whp chip!" and stuff... but if you're into this type of thing already, i shouldn't have to tell you that.

Your help is very much appreiciated!

Hope I added some type of additional information that'll help!
