HomeLink Programming Lesson
This is FYI for you. I had a hell of a time programming my Honda HomeLinks. This info will be very helpful for others. I purchased a 2006 Accord Sedan. I followed the instructions to the letter, and could not train my Homelink. I was using the Genie remote that looks like a key-fob for training. I finally cleared the Genie completely and started from scratch. Still no luck. I have a 2001 Accord Sedan, 2005 Pilot, and a 2006 Accord Sedan. I was able to re-program the 2001 Accord, but spent hours with no luck on the 2005 and 2006 models. I would train the HomeLink with the fob remote, then when I went to the opener and pushed the learn button, here’s what happened. The light would flash at first, then when I pressed the Vehicle button it would go solid. When I pressed the vehicle button the 2nd time, it would flash rapidly. It should just go out.
Here is what I learned. You cannot use this Genie Fob to train the HomeLink. It looks like it is doing it’s job, but something is wrong. It worked on the 2001 Accord, but not the ’05 or ’06. I got the original remotes that came with the opener, and it worked perfect. I have NO IDEA why, but boy, what an exercise in patience!
Hope this helps someone.
