The led has to be able to shoot a clear signal to the front of the headunit. Sometimes, if I have a supersized drink in the cupholder that is blocking the led, the remote won't work. I installed the brain of the inside the dash, basically it's between the cd storage compartment under the radio and the cover above the lower storage bin. Then the led wire is run underneath the black storage cubby and it continues on underneath the console, then it comes up through the inside of the lower storage area under the armrest, you can see it in the second pic, it's the tiny dot in the upper right corner of the console.
