THe guy busts a k-turn in the middle of the effing street, and starts following me. So... I'm going on all kinds of side streets, this way.. that way, trying to shake the guy... If you were nowhere near your home, there's very little to worry about IMHO. If you're really concerned that he got your plate... You can park the car in behind another or ask for an additional patrol during the night.
I assume you've taken the needed steps to secure the car at night. A clutch interlock, kill switches and multiple alarms will do quite a bit to deter theft.
