Rods? I know of aftermarket ones like crower and such. Would those be necessary?
Head work? Valve springs and retainers? Do those make a difference if I were to increase redline?
Crank? Are there ways to make that stronger?
You won't really need aftermarket forged rods/pistons. You could use higher compression OEM pistons like ITR pistons and that should be sufficient.

Head work is always a good idea. You could port and polish the head. If you are going with a faily aggressive cam like the Skunk2 Stage 2, I would highly recommend getting stiffer springs and upping the redline. Those cams will also compliment the higher compression as well.

The crank is fine even for a highly built setup. You could polish the journals and clean and plug the oil galleys, but besides that, you don't really need to touch it at all.
