Checking CV joints is simple. Park the car on a level surface with the following procedure: Stop, put trans in neutral, set handbrake, then place vehicle in park. We're trying to keep the load off the trans and axles here. Crawl underneath the vehicle and attach a heavy duty logging chain to the axle and the other end of the chain to a heavy duty rear bumper on a pick-up. Leave LOTS of slack in the chain. Accelerate the pickup to at least 40 MPH.
