I don't see why people add silicone. I've done 3 sets now and never had a problem. Didn't remove any factory glue, and when resealing, heat around the junction so the glue is nice and soft so you can completely re-approximate both pieces (pliers work great), you'll have a great seal, and it'll look oem.
