recycling is not motivated by economic purposes, it is motivated by environmental purposes. that recycling may use more resources is troubling, but is a problem with our current process, not the concept behind recycling itself. reusing artificial materials (plastic, glass, aluminum cans) that would take tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of years (or more) to decompose on their own would be extremely valuable. doesn't mean we have the process nailed down, but it's still worth investing time and money into if it can be made more efficient.

the fact that it costs more money is a non issue. i'm willing to spend a little more money if it means the environment can be a little healthier. people that don't care about the earth's environment or place money before it make me sick.
