well the emphasis is still on being an audio player. the video feature is just apple testing the waters of the portable video player market. i think the eventual point is to have wider format support. currently, the ITMS videos will only be 320x240, which is pretty weak. i don't think anyone's going to have much fun staring at a 2.5" screen for hours, either. but keep in mind, you can hook it up to a TV. DVD quality video is pertinent, then. if you can carry around dozens of DVD's worth of videos on a device as small as an ipod, and hook it up to any TV anywhere you go, i think it'd be a lot more useful. absolutely not a must-have-to-live item, but still pretty cool.
