some beer taps make good shift knobs, if you find a nice one.... with a ball ontop, like a bells oberon tap.... but personally, i do prefer the wood or the older hard plastic shift knobs.... your gonna call me crazy but ive got a shift knob off a 1978 ferrari in my honda, it looks classy, feels great... and has some nostalga to it.... im a ferrari nut, what i can i say....
