Like said above, the car's on it's 4th year in production, not exactly new to the market.

I think what people are trying to get at, is that if your Accord isn't meant to be fast, and you have fast cars for when you need that rush, why waste your time trying to make it a faster "dog"?

Sounds like you would know just as much as the next guy when it comes to home-brewed parts, so knock yourself out. You might get some gains, you might not. If you do, it'll be doubtful it'll actually be enough of a difference to make it worth it...or even feel it.
