i've looked up this DEI thing http://www.drdetailshop.com/556U.htm (dont even know what it is or stands for) and im not sure if thats all i need to have installed or if theres a lot im missing out on. will i need another seperate remote or can i program my current key? is installation difficult? what else will i need?

if anyone could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't install stuff like this on my own...take it to a shop that specializes in it, so if anything goes wrong you can always bring it back.

I believe to get around the transponder chip in the key, they place either the entire key or just the chip inside the starter control unit and that negates the purpose of the chip since the ignition needs to have the chip within like 5 feet of it. This is what the shop that installed mine told me a few years ago.
