So keeping your RPM closer to peak horsepower isn't really an issue in autocross. That sparks another question. Why is it always said that you want the peak horsepower and not peak torque? They happen at different RPM I know. I would think that since torque is what makes you accelerate then you would want the RPM with the most torque.
