His argument was not that defense does not count, he is saying that if a person is a horrible fielder (Manny for instance) that should be held against them. Simply putting a glove on should not increase your MVP value.

But I really like his arguments about who would Yankee fans want and who would Red Sox fans want in a clutch situation. Coupled that with it was Martinez and Giambi that carried the Yankees at times this year and not AROD.

AROD is the best all around player in the league...that does not necessarily make him the most valuable. There is a difference.
