See where I am going?
I never claimed the Red Sox were the better historical franchise and will be the first to admit the Yankees are the best team in the history of baseball. But making that argument, again, is OLD. Why you brought it up to discuss this season, I don't know.
I also thought the Yankees were done when they brought in Leiter, Small, & Chacon as stop-gap measures. Not only did I think that but I think any sane person that knows what a baseball is did too. The Yankees were great to rally (and hats off to em) but noone had the foresight to see Small winning 10 games. Had he performed the way he has for the rest of his career before this season the Yankees would be sitting at home right now watching the Indians as the Wild Card and the Sox as the East Champs.
Tom I didn't bring it up to discuss this year. I brought it up when i was talking about how most Red Sox fans now say Boston is the best ever yet history does not back that up. The history has nothing to do with this year as I actually stated in that same post.
As for Small, Chacon, and Leiter, I agree. Who could have predicted that. But you know what it happened and the team rallied behind them. Also who would have thought Giambi would have such a turnaround. All these things show what heart this year's Yankees Team really has. What they have done this season from where they were is amazing.
