Dammit!! I guess I'm going to have to shell out for a diagnostic - it'll probably be cheaper in the end than throwing parts at it in the hopes that one will remedy the problem. Most of the stuff you're mentioning could very well be the cause - the cracked intake, manifold gasket, bad injectors, MAP sensor... my cousin works in auto body and I'll talk to him tonight to see if he has a hookup on something like this.
I might be bitching out, but if you can't tell, I'm not rockin' a D15/four speed 91 hatch because I'm made out of money, and the ignition parts alone almost came to a hundred bucks. At some point, someone at the parts counter is going to be like 'hey! weren't you in here yesterday buying and returning parts for this same car?!! Get the fuck out of here!!'
Who knows, if they do a thorough enough job I might find this problem out and maybe something that could be waiting to go bad down the road, too. Thanks for all of the help - the problem is just too vague, it could be any number of things at this point, and just going in blind is likely to make the situation worse. Sigh...I hate paying some guy 50-100 bucks just to have him go 'yeah, it's like a twenty dollar part' - too bad none of my friends or my cousin are into Hondas.
