my 91 accord wouldn't start. I couldn't hear the fuel pump whirring when key turned on. changed the main relay, still nothing.
pulled the fuel pump and put 12 v to it and it spun like a champ (bench test).
hooked up fuel pump to car (with pump laying on floor) and it spun up when key turned on. put it back together and car still won't start.
any ideas. does a fuel pump usually fail due to electric motor failure or some kind of rubber diaphragm that tears perhaps? in other words can a fuel pump run but not move fuel like it is supposed to?
any thoughts out there?
