Yes I regularly autocross. I race in the SM class where R-compounds are a necessity. As regards the heat cycling comment. You can accomplish heat cycling by driving on the street for a few miles and letting the tires cool down.

So yes I will use them for competition and yes I know they will wear out on the street. I paid $600 total for the wheels and tires, why not just use up the tires I got for only $200.
