Modding a car is only worth while if you keep it a car. Something you can't drive isn't a car, it's a giant piece of metal sitting on a trailer that gets dropped off at shows and is otherwise useless.
But from another point of view, if said show car makes you some serious loot to pump into a real car, I say go for it. But at least design the car so it will win shows. This car would win metal work shows, but definitely not car shows.
So by your description it seems anyone who modifies a car to the point of not being streetable is wasting a car. Am I reading your comment correctly?
