To answer the original question...
If you have a 2004 Honda Accord, you can reset the MAINT REQD light by
1. Turn off car engine
2. Hold down the console knob used to view the trip odometer/outside temp
3. Turn the key to the ON position without actually starting the engine
4. Wait approx 10 seconds until the light goes out.
