yes, wireless access points use radio waves for communication. Yes, radio waves can go through walls. Metal it cannot. So if your belken has no metal things near it getting in the path of the waves, it could appear to have better distance than the other.

Sure the linksys could just not be doing well....99% of the time it's because of interference.
