Once you remove the Stock knob, there is a hollow pipe that goes inside the assembly. You have to cut that pipe or it will look awful. I bought a Saw Blade from Sears for like 2 bucks and I cut the pipe right in the middle of the 2 Scew holes which is the perfect height. It is kinda hard to cut it but I think its worth it.
About the shifting, It gonna take me sometime to get used to it but I think it will be faster cause you have to press the whole thing down rather then searching for the button on the side
