biodiesel is another one. it's made of soy (usually, but can be made of several types of foilage like algae, peanuts, coconuts, etc) and it works in any standard petro-diesel engine. It is actually a
very cost effective alternative to petroleum products. Unfortunately, it was not included in the recent energy bill.
