Its better to slightly over power a driver and slightly under power. Extremely over powered is bad, but slightly over powered wont hurt anything. If you under power, as you turn the volume up, the amp will start clipping frequencies because the amp has reached it maximum output and your still turning the volume up. The result is blown VC's
